SILENT HILL DOWNPOUR REVIEW

Silent hill and resident evil have been pushing the horror gaming genre for years now releasing countless games, comics, figures and movies. however unlike resident evil silent hill have not strayed as far from their original material. silent hill homecoming was a good game however it was one of the easiest.

Silent hill downpour is about Murphy Pendleton who at the beginning is being transferred from prison A to prison B for an unknown crime. as the story unfolds we find out exactly what had happened. i felt that the story was good but short. however the game can be drastically extended once you enter silent hill itself. as you can explore the town and do a lot of side quests. 

The graphics in this game were pretty spot on. the creatures in this were pretty awesome looking. glitches wise had had no problems which is always a plus.

Gameplay is fairly to the point. weapons are few and far between, especially ammo. the hand weapons are pretty good but don't last very long which means you have to change weapons fairly often so that you don't have an awesome weapon all the time. also the difficulties can be altered separately so you can have combat on hard and puzzles on normal. which is good if your really good at one and not the other.

The monsters although are cool looking are pretty standard. i like the fact that they are all new which means the idea of silent hill becoming your own personal nightmare works where are other games have said everybody loves pyramid head and the nurses. lets use them again. but the problem with that is that they are a part of james sunderland's psyche. nobody else's. also you can count the different enemies on one hand. so once you learn the best way to beat them it becomes very easy.

Also there is a ball of energy that just shows up at random and chases you. i didn't understand what was going on and i found it just wasn't fitting with the rest of the feeling of the game. it just felt tacked on.

Another point is i know some people like alternate endings but i don't because when the next game comes out your there wondering which ending they and continuing the story from. its unnecessarily  complicated in my opinion.

The achievements are fairly simple although time consuming. several are from completing side quests. a few a from expert difficulties. 

I would recommend this game to anybody who loves horror. i love dead space, resident evil and silent hill and this game is one of the better ones in those franchises. many slated the game just because the credits and trailer had korn playing but personally it was never an issue for me.  this game is one of my top games. it was short but in being short it left me wanting more.
