SOUL CALIBUR 5 REVIEW

I will start this review by saying that i played soul blade and i didn't like it. I only bought soul calibur 2 on xbox because you get to play as spawn, i didn't buy soul calibur 3 cause nothing interested me, i only bought soul calibur 4 because of Yoda and broken destiny sits in my collection due to Kratos being in it. At this point you can probably work out why i bought this one, i love assassins creed so Ezio was a good reason to buy this game cheap. If i had to choose a beat em up to play its either a Mortal Kombat game, a Tekken game or a Marvel vs capcom game.

I will start with the story mode. This mainly consisted of a plot about Patroklos who has way too much affection for his sister Pyrrha, who he is searching for. I get that they were trying to portray him caring for her but it just made him really winey, worse than Nero from Devil may cry 4. There was an Obvious twist that the siblings would become reluctant enemies with Patroklos being good and Pyrrha being evil. But i found this a bit of a bore. also it kept changing from cutscenes to stills for some reason. To be honest its not 1998 anymore you can do cutscenes all the way through now. Also to cut between the two just made it feel like they could have done cutscenes but ran out of time so just rushed the rest.

Graphics…….it seems these days that beat em ups like the idea of their female characters never hearing of sports bras. so every time they very slightly move they jiggle around all over the place in an unrealistic way. even when they have a metal chest plate on. logic must have gone to a pay phone and weird sex starved morons trapped him inside with bondage gear. This is also proven with their campaign ad which was literally just boobs, ass and a bit of crotch for the ladies. other than that the graphics are pretty good. and glitches wise only stupidly long loading screens at points.

The game is clearly built for online as without it there is not much to do. i had this game on the easiest setting and i still found in arcade mode that my opponents would literally spam a move over and over until you die. which i HATE. online is filled with people like that who just hit x over and over until they win then brag. as if their was any skill in what just happened. i really don't appreciate that from the A.I. I do love creating my own character and that is pretty detailed so that can be fun with the amount of options on offer.

Most of the achievements are online and consist of play xxxxx matches. Which is lazy at best. But the last game was the same to some extent. If i had a PS3 i wouldn't mind as they get online for free but I'm not paying to go online and try to grind the achievements. i like my achievement to be mainly offline.

Overall its a game for fans. Really not worth it for the Bonus character and yet i know that if the character for the next one is someone cool that i like and that is a big list I'm going to get it and once again be disappointed. the main thing i would say is just buy Mortal Kombat ultimate edition and have the novelty of Freddy Krueger. or if you like comics Injustice ultimate edition.
